Nearly 21 and expected to be home by 4-5 pm?!!!

Hi ladies, I've been wanting to ask a question which I already know the answer to but I'm hoping someone will help me find the best way to go about it 😑

I don't live with either of my parents neither am I in contact with them because of complex reasons and have been living with my uncle and aunt for nearly a year now and am a full time
Uni student. I'm gonna be 21 soon. I'm looking for a part time job.

Here's the thing. On days where I have uni as long as I let them know when I'm coming home in the evening it's cool. But on weekends when they know I have no uni they want me home by 4 or 5 pm?

My uncle is strict but mostly protective. I don't know how to speak to him about this. I appreciate he's letting me live with him but I'm not the type to go clubbing anyway where I would wanna be home by like 12 midnight. But 4 or 5 pm because it gets dark by then? 😕

I have been abiding by the rules but I feel I'm a 21 year old adult soon whose personal space is being invaded. It's kind of belittling my intelligence.

I don't agree with the people saying it's their house so you follow their rules. You're 21......not 12. You should be allowed to do whatever you want as long as you don't wreck their house and do something like eat all their food with five friends and raise the electric bill by $100. It's very nice for them to allow you to live there but you're not a child

Yeah. I was in that situation... my best solution? Get out of my family's houses and go live with a friend. Now I can go out wherever I want and do much things without a curfew, yet I know my limits and I'm responsible and don't go out much

Since you are living under their roof, you should follow their rules. However, try talking to them and reaching a compromise maybe?

You are not 12 years old. I would talk to him and tell him how you respect his house rules and him but would like to have more freedom because no matter where you are living you are an adult and should be given space.

I think you're just gonna have to respect their wishes for as long as you're there. If you really wanna talk to him, tell him that it's not like you're doing anything bad and how you're always on time on the weekdays and just need a little time to yourself on weekends. Other than that I don't really see any solution to the problem.
