Not official on fb after 8 months...

I'm dating this guy I really like and am falling in love with. We're not fb official after 8 months. There's an eight year difference between us too. I don't mind and he doesn't really but sometimes I get insecure about it. Case in point: I put that I was in a relationship on fb and didn't specify who, he just took the whole relationship part off his profile. This was at two months when we decided to be exclusive.

How do I ask to make it fb official? We've both met eachothers families and we all get along so well. I just really feel like I have something special and I don't get why I'm feeling so much anxiety over stupid social media. I'm concerned about how his "buddies" will react knowing I'm younger and, for instance, still in school (1 year left till I'm an RN! Woohoo). I'm not moving out of my parents house until late this summer. He's also dated around a bit and I haven't found a man I liked enough to make anything official, let alone bring him home. What if he doesn't want people to know he's dating someone younger? He jokes sometimes about being an "old man" and will say stuff like "I used to get pissed seeing hot chicks with dbag boyfriend's but now I'm the dbag lol". He makes comments like he doesn't get why I'm dating him and sure he has flaws but everybody has some, I don't get how to get it through his thick skull that he's the only one I want for the foreseeable future without sounding like I'm proposing lol. I know one of his past girlfriends cheated on him and messed him up pretty good, but he doesn't want to talk about it and I haven't pressed.

I'm a mess, please help.
