Vitex for irregular, long cycles?

Hi!

Just started reading about Vitex. I have always been very irregular (today is CD 53...) and obviously that is challenging when TTC. I am tracking bbt and doing opk daily as well.

My docs once gave me progesterone to bring on my period when I was 18- I bled for weeks and it was literally uncontainable. I want to avoid that again and that's my next step if I hit CD 90!

Can you share experiences with Vitex in regulating and shortening your cycles? Hoping Vitex might be able to help get things going on my own.

I have been irregular ever since I got the 3 month depo shot in 2011. I went through weight loss a couple of times and that made my period regular. But I started gaining the weight back and they have become irregular again. I started taking Vitex Fruit because we are TTC too and within 2 days of taking it, Vitex started my period and it was shorter than usual. 4 days. Within a week after my period I was ovulating.

I have been irregular since the very start of my period. I will never forget how confused I was when my first period at 10 was 2 weeks long. I say that to say I completely understand the frustration w/ TTC. So I have been taking Vitex (Chaste Tree) since November 21st. I had a period in January and nothing until today which is 90+ days apart. 2 months ago I upped my dosage from 1 400mg pill once per day to 2 400mg pills once per day and my hope is the my period coming was a result of upped dosage 2 mos ago. Fingers crossed my next cycle will come sooner than 90 days or a BFP. I have heard that it is best to take it in the morning on an empty stomach and don't eat for 30 min. Your body will use it most efficiently at that time before all your other systems get going w/ food digestion, stress management, etc. It also takes time to regulate because it's natural so give it time. I also take Thyoid Energy by Now just for more balancing. One other thing that gave me some positive vibes was Googling "success stories TTC with Vitex". I found a thread of happy irregular periods regulated and conceptions ☺️

I've been taking Vitex for almost 3 months now. My cycles are usually 37-40 days now and I have gotten 3 positive opt's on cycle day 25. I also started taking iodine that my chiropractor suggested. My thyroid levels looked in the normal rage but I felt like my hormones were off and I'm still not really sure exactly why. After starting Vitex and the iodine my cycles have been the most normal that they have been sense a long time ago like 8 years ago. I take two pills 2x's a day they are 400mg each.
