LDR HELP NEEDED

If anyone is in a long distance relationship can I get some advice? My boy lives 200+ miles from me, he visits very often, but if we get serious he will be my first boyfriend (he also is my first kiss!) and it just seems like it will be hard with the constant missing. He said he missed me for the first time last night and it just made me feel kind of sad. Does distance make the heart grow fonder? Should I just really make sure what he is in for, part of me feels like maybe just a physical thing?
