C-section or vaginally delivery? If you can choose, which one?

I'm pregnant with my first.. not sure if C-section is an option or more of a last resort. But if you could choose, which one would you choose?

I think (and this is my personal opinion) that c-sections are the last resort and should not be done unless medically necessary. People do what they want though.

After 23 hours of labor and three hours of pushing my son turned and was "sunny side up". At 10 lb 9 oz I was told he was "undeliverable". Cue the c section, trauma, and difficult recovery. A c section is not something I would choose unless it is medically necessary! I'd suggest trying as hard as possible for a vaginal delivery as long as you are able.

I had to have a c section, but I wanted a vaginal delivery so bad. I wouldn't recommend major surgery unless you need it. Either way it's going to hurt though. The only good thing about the c section (besides ensuring my son was born safely) was that it was really quick. This time around I hope I can have a VBAC 🤞🏼

I'm glad c sections exist for those times when it is medically necessary. However I think it's irresponsible to allow it to be elective.

I've chosen to have a C section for my first, going in for it tomorrow so hopefully all will go well! I'm totally at peace with my choice and my reasons why and I definitely feel it's the best option for me, but that it wouldn't be for many others. I researched a lot before making my decision so I'd just suggest doing the same and then pushing for the birth that feels right for you x

A c-section is still major surgery that cuts through lots of muscle and tissue right in your abdomen. I would say it's a last resort. I had a really long labor with my first and I remember wanting it over so badly that I was hoping for a c-section. In the end I'm glad I didn't need one cus c-section recoveries sound really tough.

Never had a c section and I would personally never choose one. If it really came down to it then I obviously wouldn't have a choice but it better be life or death cause I'd rather not be cut open

My personal opinion is that c-sections should only be done when absolutely necessary. Not because labor is taking a long time or a woman is small... or a lot of other reasons some doctors use for it being necessary. I think a major abdominal surgery should only be considered when it's an actual medical emergency. I know a lot of people will disagree, but that's just my personal feeling. I live in the US but wish we were more like other countries of the world and that our c section rate was lower.
