Pelvic girdle pain...there IS a solution!

Kate

I feel like i need to post this even before im totally better because ive been googling this for weeks and mostly im being told theres not a lot you can do until you give birth. So i sucked it up for 3 weeks...but in the last 4 days ive been in absolute agony almost constantly and utterly incapable of movement. So i really went all out to sort this. I have just been to my first physiotherapy appointment and i cannot believe how happy i am. She put me through what felt like unbelievable levels of pain as she massaged my sciatic nerve, hips and buttocks but right now i feel utterly awesome. I have another appointment in a few days and will keep going until birth i think.

Turns out my muscles have been very tight for ages, which contributed to pgp, although i still would have got it anyway. Im 34 weeks and until today my dr just said 'ah its cos the babys lying on your left. Nothing you can do about it really, maybe try a belt.' Well hes right about lying on the left...and lots of women get it but that doesnt mean theres nothing that can be done.

Apparently most women are told this when actually there can be another underlying cause, or even the main cause, which can totally be helped with either a chiropractor or physiotherapist. Just make sure you get a pregnancy qualified one.

So just to summarise what my symptoms are/were: pain in the left of my pelvis/top of my leg, especially when rolling over (or trying to) at night. Pain there moving legs apart, standing, walking, climbing stairs, putting pants on! The only time it didnt hurt was sitting, but getting up was painful. It was much worse after sleeping and eased off with swimming or a small amount of walking.

Thats all...i hope im not putting the cart before the horse here but if youre in agony like me, dont believe theres nothing that can be done!
