Cervix Check

I had my first cervix check yesterday and only 1cm dilated (hurry baby) and well I'm still feeling a bit crampy down there. Guessing this is normal? I forgot to ask before I left yesterday. There was no bleeding after or still but FTM so not sure if I should expect cramping each check?!?!
