Keeping baby's gender a secret 🤔

My husband and I are pregnant with our first child. We are almost able to find out the gender of our baby and we are considering keeping it a secret from everyone besides us. Has anyone done this successfully? How did it go? I have a hard time not telling people things out of excitement so I don't know if I can do it 😂
