Rant about my day....
So yesterday I lost my mucus plug and started having mild contractions. I also started leaking some kind of fluid. I didn't think it was urine but you can't be sure. I called my doctor's office and since I had an even scheduled for today they told me not to worry about it. I had continuing mild contractions all night and all morning but they became untimable last night at around 2am.
Today, I got up to get ready. Shower, get dressed, etc and then get a phone call from the office letting me know the power is out and I would have to go to another one. I asked if I should, or if the nurse thought I should just go to labor and delivery because of the situation. I just didn't want to waste anyone's time. They send me to labor and delivery and I get there around 2pm.
The nurse seems nice, I explain the situation to her and she seems understanding. I told her I was no longer feeling contractions but the leaking worried me. She ended up being the most incompetent nurse I've ever met. She told me all the tests she would run to rule out amniotic fluid - she then did 0 of them because it "doesn't look like amniotic fluid"to her. Seriously. She ruled it out by eye. She put the blood pressure cuff on me incorrectly so it gave very inaccurate results. I flipped it and it was better, but the cuff was too large so it still want accurate. Her solution was to put a BIGGER cuff on. She also ignored the baby's heart rate monitor for almost an hour after it was reading at 40. I knew it had moved, but she didn't. Anyway, she was awful. There was a lot more but these are the biggies.
So 15 minutes after we get there she tells me I am having contractions. I was surprised because I didn't feel them. The contractions as we went got more intense (within an hour I could feel each one) and more often. Nobody ever addressed them again, though. She wanted to check what the doctor wanted to do (even though I never found out) so she tried to call the office (the one I told her was closed, and is connected to the hospital I was at) for OVER AN HOUR. They got worried about preeclampsia because my bp was high and it never has been before, so they checked my blood (because the nurse lost my urine sample).
After 6 hours, the doctors released me despite literally nothing changing. The preeclampsia came back negative which is relieving, but that's all I know. They said that I was having contractions due to dehydration but never bothered to give me an iv. I got my diagnosis at 8pm and was in my car by 8:10. It makes absolutely no sense. I'm sitting at home, crying because I'm still having contractions at 1:30am despite drinking as much as I could.
I have no idea if this is even readable but thank you if you made it this far.
