Is it Normal for it to look this way? It has a little puss coming out. What can I wipe it with to clean it?

They just started advising against alcohol within the last few years so it's not going to hurt if you do. My baby girls fell off within a week after birth because her diaper was rubbing on it. I brought her in at her one week and he cauterized it (took a cotton tip with nitrogen on it and resealed it) it doesn't affect the way it looks after healing it just seals it off. It doesn't hurt the baby either my baby didn't even flinch. Afterward it looks a little scabby but it healed up just fine. I'd take the baby in and have the doctor check it out for sure.. it looks swollen and red. As for the dry skin, you could use lotion but it's not going to help much, but that will stop within a couple of weeks !

I would take baby in just to get checked. 9 days is a little early for it to be coming off. Especially if there is pus. Good luck!

My daughters stump came out within a week. At her week check up her ped just put nitrogen whatever it is in it to dry the rest up.

Looks like it is moist just needs to be cleaned.  I used alcohol to clean his button each day with a cotton swab.  Dry after bathing and do not cover with pamper.

If there's pus you wanna call their dr. I was told to call if there was like heavy bleeding, pus, or smelt bad. And regarding another commenter skin peeling is normal but just lotion the baby up a bit. How old is your baby?
