what do you wish you knew/someone had told you before having your baby ?

For me i had no clue that literally everything I own would at some point be covered in pee poop baby spit up or leaking milk. I also wasn't prepared for my lo sleeping for only 20-30 minutes at night. Two hours or an hour yes but these 20 minute bursts are super hard.

Knowing these things wouldn't have changed my mind about having my lo but I  maybe would've invested in a cheap comforter I don't care about as mine now is covered in every imaginable body fluid.

That the first six weeks post partum are harder than the pregnancy and the delivery combined. Between the sleep deprivation and the physical healing from the birth, giving birth is a cake walk.

How hard breast feeding actually is. My LO and I are at the month mark, and now that her lip tie is corrected we are actually making progress. Lactation should spend way more time with you in the hospital, so you don't have a break down when you get home.

I wish I knew more about all the pain I would be in after delivery and how long it actually takes to heal! I was not expecting all these things that are going on with my body!

How real and hard the baby blues can be!  I wasn't expatiate feel that way at all.  Thankfully at 6 weeks pp I'm feeling better but those first 2-3 weeks were tough!

Oh, and I wish someone had told me that my husband would never change her, burp her, or feed her in the middle of the night. And if he did heat up a pumped bottle, that he was going to hand it to me! But by all means, tell people how we are not sleeping. 😒😡🖕👎

The pp incontinence. Makes sense it would happen, but i didn't expect to pee myself as i was going to sit on the toilet.

The constant leakage of fluid once your water broke during labor. So uncomfortable, it was like waking up to an unexpected period and having to walk around without a pad or tampon. Super gross. I thought that your water gushed all at once rather than slowly over the course of a few hours, was definitely not prepared.

I wish someone had told me to follow my instinct and to tell medical professionals to shove it when it's at the expense of my son's health (I did so, but should have done so sooner).

I wish someone had told me how important onesies with attached mittens are in the first months.

I wish someone had told me that blocked tear ducts are extremely common in newborns.

I wish someone had told me that babies can get SEVERE acne.
