Anyone thinking of just having one baby? No second or third child?

I'm considering getting my tubes tied after the birth of my baby boy in August. It took me a looooong time to decide to have one (I'm 34) I feel sure I won't have any more.

I was an only child and hated it so much. I always begged for a sibling! I vowed that when I was old enough I'd have a TON of kids so they never felt alone. So, my husband and I want 4 kids (firm believer in having them in even numbers)! My husband's brother and his wife planned to only have one kid though, and they only had one! She's 9 now and they have zero plans to have more and seem very happy with their decision!

It took me 8 years to decide to have another. Id be upset if I had decided to get tubes tied etc before been having my daughter.

I thought about it but I've just decided to get the iud instead just in case... but right now I think I'm done I have 1 boy 1 girl

I'm 34 and FTM. This might be our only one as my fiance is 41. We figure we will see in a few years how we feel.

I wanted a big family but I'm on my second child and am having a pretty rough go of it so I think this will be it. BUT, I will not make a big decision like that until I'm at least 32. I will be 30 this year and I think a couple years will give me the time to make a huge decision and if I choose to have another then I will still have time to do so.

My husband and I thought about only having 1 child. We have a 3 1/2 year old. This past July we said "well if it happens then we were meant to have two". We weren't exactly trying but definitely not trying to prevent it. Found out in September that I'm pregnant! I'm now 23 weeks with a little girl and I can't wait for them to grow up together. My husband was an only child and he hated it. I have a brother a two sisters but they are a lot older so by the time I was 8 they were all out of the house. At times I felt like the only child and I would make my mom constantly call my friends parents to see if my friends could play. I even made her call to ask about adoption one time lol. I think it's good for a child to have someone they can always count on like a sibling. Especially when mom and dad go they won't be alone. BUT I will say 2 kids is not for everyone. Some people say it put more of a strain on their marriage after having a second. There's so many pros and cons of 1 vs 2. Do what you feel is right!

I have a two month old and part of me is thinking about having a second kid (not for a few years) but other part of me wonders if I will even want to do all this again while having a 5 or 6 year old. I think we currently plan for two kids, but that is just us.

It is different for everyone. My mom had me at 28 and I am the only child. I overall didn't mind it. I used to wish I had a twin because it sounded fun but that was it lol

I'd wait to see - motherhood can really change your heart sometimes & you might decide after this baby that more would be awesome.  It's a great feeling when you see your kids playing together. And for the most part, my kids have instantly loved their siblings. They are so close that I'd hate to imagine if we had stopped at one. Good luck with your decision :)
