Delayed Labor? It could be your thyroid.

Mal

I've been having some concerns about my thyroid when I got a phone call from my doctor's office this morning saying that my TSH was too high, and they are increasing my dosage of Levothyroxine. I've been on 50mcg before pregnancy and even up until now. I will be 39 weeks tomorrow. The last time they checked it was in October. I was told by the nurse that it should have been checked sooner.I thinks kind of late, but we'll see if the high number affects my ability to go into spontaneous labor, which is my desire because I want to avoid induction and a cesarean section. I have hypothyroidism, if it's not obvious from my message, but I've also read that women with hyperthyroidism have issues relating to preterm birth. I posted one of the articles below, and I would encourage you expecting mothers who haven't been screened for thyroid levels to do so.

I don't feel like I need to post a disclaimer, but I know how some of the women on this site can be, so I'll say this, chew the meat and spit out the bone. If this doesn't apply to you, then I wasn't directing it to you.
