Installing carseat?

When did you install your carseat, and do you have just the base installed or do you leave the bucket in too?

We installed my sons when I was 34 weeks but just did the base. If you install the seat and base and were to get in a wreck (even just a small wreck) you'd have to replace the whole thing. And of course the base isn't nearly as expensive as the seat!

I did mine at 34 weeks and had it inspected by the fire department. I left the seat in especially as I got closer to my due date. They advise not to do it too early because if  heaven forbid you're in an accident you're supposed to replace it. Some insurances cover it but it's still a pain.

Putting ours in today. (36.1 weeks) I'll leave the seat itself out until we're on our way to the hospital. Just going to leave it by the door.
