IUD experience?

Question

Obviously this is a very person-specific topic and expect good and bad responses but wondering about experiences w/ IUDs.

We're done having kids and I suspect hubby will eventually get a vasectomy but shorter term my doctor wants a better birth control option than the mini pill (I'm ebfing right now and plan to for at least 1 year).

My uterus ruptured during delivery so even if we weren't ready to be done having kids it's been highly recommend I do not attempt to get pregnant again and if we did not for a minimum of 24mos (and would force a c/sec around 35 week).

Anyway he wants me to consider other options such as iud and let him know what I'd like to proceed with..he is sending me back to OBGYN to get her opinion too but just wondering other ppl's experiences.

I recently got mirena when I was 7weeks pp (will be 2months pp on Wednesday). The process did hurt for me getting it inserted n was cramping horribly afterwards. Took a perk n it help tremendously. Since then I have been bleeding heavy on n off as well as cramping some days. I had my first period at 5weeks. My ob instructed us to use condoms for two weeks until it kicked in. My ob didn't cut my string to short for now but my husband didn't feel it wen we had sex.

I Tried Getting the IUD .. but god was it painful, the doctor said it would be a pinch then a cramp but it felt more than that.. First try she said it didn't slip in smoothly and would have it checked out with a sonogram, she didnt like the way itt looked so we had to try it again. Second time around we did it with a sonogram and my cervix apparently wasn't allowing it to enter fully.. It was painful and a fail. Ohh Then I Heard that Guys claim they can feel it when having sex.

Is an IUD safe if your uterus ruptured?? Honest question! 
Personally, I absolutely hated having mirena. I looked and felt 3 months pregnant the entire time I had it in. It made me depressed and a total bitch. I could never lose the 15 pounds I put on immediately with it...and as soon as I had it removed, I dropped 25 pounds in a month. It was, for me, the worst thing I have ever had to deal with. 
That being said, I know tons of women who love mirena. My stepmom and my best friend both have never had any issues.

I didn't do well on the mini pill either...and I'm assuming I'm just sensitive to hormonal birth control? I feel like my experiences are not typical

LOVED the mirena. No periods, no side effects, and no worries for 5 years! I cramped the first day really bad and spotted for 3 weeks after insertion but after that it was smooth sailing the whole time!

I loved my IUD, never had periods (not always same results for everyone), I had some occasional spotting but very very rare, I had to get the strings clipped twice because it affected my SO, but don't mention it to him.. if he complains then go and ask to get it clipped really short.. they sometimes want to tell you they can't and blah blah, but they can!! There is some discomfort for the first few weeks to a month until it settles in.. just take 600-800 ibuprophen if needed every 6 or more hours as needed. I would not have sex for the first 2 weeks and about a month after that I wouldn't do anything rough... after that, you should be in the clear. I never have to think about a pill, and often times for most you never have to think about pads/tampons for periods, like myself :)

I've had two IUDs (Mirena and Paraguard) and plan to have another Paraguard inserted now that I'm postpartum.  That being said, I would proceed with caution with your recent history of uterine rupture.  See what the OB says.

I have one now. It was a breeze to get inserted and I haven't noticed any side effects except I was a little achy the night I had it done which went away with Motrin.

I've only ever used an IUD. My first was the worse. Bleed seems like forever after it was inserted. I will say though after that finally ended I didn't see AF for 5 beautiful years lol.  Fast forward to my 2nd I didn't bleed after it was interested but did have AF every month but very light... Now I'm on my 3rd and will use til Menopause or hubby gets a vastamy.

I got the paraguard 2 weeks ago and I've been fine. Had some cramping and spotting for 3 or 4 days after but I've been fine since then. And no hormones

I got the Mirena a couple weeks ago. Wasn't the most pleasant insertion and I've had annoying spotting, heavy and light, for the last week (my period?) but I've already forgotten it's there for the most part. We haven't had sex since it was put in.....husband is a no blood kinda guy...but I'm sure it'll be fine when we do. I'm so forgetful and my hormones go into a tailspin with birth control pills but so far this IUD is just fine
