what did you do while you were in labor at the hospital?

When you go to the hospital and are in labor what do you do? Are you just waiting around doing nothing in between contractions or watching tv or what? I was just curious. I've heard of lots of people having long labors and just wondered what you did to occupy your time or if you don't want to do anything. Not sure what to expect.

Watched tv! First thing I did was turn on the boob tube lol after my epidural we cracked jokes and had fun!

I tried to sleep. I knew that was my last chance for a long time. Til it got time to push them I was up and ready to go. Had lots of energy

A bit of sleep, some chatting with my SO and then I put on my makeup ready for the piccies.

Chatted with my family and my SO. Got some sleep. Tried to do some reading. The doctors make it hard to do much of anything because they're constantly in and out. If you're in labor at night, usually you just try to rest up for the big event.

I'm a first time mom myself so I don't know exactly what I will be doing inbetween contractions but I've been around a few people while they were in labor. The one that got the epidural so she was stuck in bed and played on her phone or chatted with us during her contractions, she read for a bit and watched some tv. My mom on the other hand went completely natural with my youngest sister and she was up and moving around in between. We walked the halls with her, she took a shower, bounced on the ball, did some squats all while talking with us. She didn't want to just sit there and do nothing. Which is probably why all her labors were all under 5 hours and drug free. (:

I'm a ftm and being induced tomorrow, I expect I will be there a long time because they're inducing. I'm not sure what most women do but I figure I will be watching tv, I have my phone, I will be bringing a book and I'm currently in college right now so figure I will bring my school work also. Just gonna bring busy stuff that's easy to take with

Talked and joked with my family until the good ole epidural!
I remember joking about needing some sweat pants since I never owned a pair. Everyone, including the nurses, thought I was crazy for not having a pair.

I hung out with family - they had to rotate in and out of the room. We put on a movie - they watched I while I focused on breathing through contractions with my hubby (he watched the movie too though) 😀 Then we kicked them out when it was time for the epidural, had my baby about an hour later. Little did I know I labored to 10 cm dialated without pain meds and with our family hanging with us. That was the last thing I thought I'd do, but I handled the pain better than I thought and enjoyed having the company. Who knew! 😂
