Laps in Insurance? Help?

For the past several years.... I have worked in a very highly specialized sub field of applied behavior analysis called "specialized therapeutic services".... essentially I had the most aggressive clients in the state, who were removed from their homes (or at risk of being removed) due to their aggression.... once I found out I was pregnant I knew that I couldn't stay in this very dangerous line of work where I am often injured.... Sooo I switched to a different company and will now be working as a supervisor in in early intervention clinic.... however my old company told me when I left that my insurance would carryover for a few months...  and my insurance provider just let me know that my old company canceled my coverage as of March 1st... my new insurance coverage with the new company doesn't start until April...  even though they are both kaiser Permanente... I had several really important doctors appointments during that time.... i'm not really sure what to do????

You should be offered COBRA continuation of your coverage if your. Company was a large one (the option to keep it and pay for it yourself). Ask your hr Dept when you can expect to receive this.  Losing group coverage also qualifies you to go onto the federal (or your state, depending on where you live) exchange. But there are enrollment deadlines to prevent a lapse.

If you can afford COBRA coverage right now you could do that. Personally, I didn't want to pay the $600 for Cobra coverage and my Drs appointments cost $670 each appointment, so I decided to wait until my March appointment and my new insurance to start. I did make an appointment at a local 4D/3D ultrasound place to do a gender reveal and check on the babies. I also use my Doppler weekly to monitor their heartbeats. Granted my boys are a pain in the butt when I try to get their heartbeat readings and like to move within a few seconds of me finding them, but they like to stay still when their dad finds them. Just a note, I'm also considered high risk since I have a history of MC's.

You should be provided cobra. It's 102% of your premium (including any that your company pays on your behalf). Or you are eligible to enroll through the marketplace (life changing event gives you 30 days to enroll) or if you are married you can get on your husbands insurance (again you have 30 days to notify and enroll due to life changing event).
