5-6cm dilated, no contractions?!

My sister went to her appointment today at 40w5d and she is 5-6cm dilated but has not had any contraction nor has her water broke. This is her first baby. Anyone gone through this or know anyone that has?

She is being induced on Sunday. She tested positive for group b strep and they want to make sure they have enough time to administer antibiotics

My sister was 5cm dilated for almost a whole month before she gave birth to my niece.

I was actually like that with my son , I was 4cm and I couldn't tell if I wasn't having them or not I actually gotten induced because of it

I thought they usually admit women when you're that far dialated? That's crazy that nothing is happening. Did they do a NST? Some women can have contractions without knowing it.

They should admit her since she's passed 3cm but every place is diff

I was 3cm dilated for nearly 3 weeks!! Baby will come when ready x
