Any doctors in the house??

I'm 7 weeks pregnant, and am wondering if it's safe to continue taking Spironolactone 100mg daily?

It's for severe cystic acne and I just need to weigh the risks.

My first appt isn't til 12 weeks so I won't get to ask until then.

I would just call the doctor and ask a nurse or anyone in the office. Most prescription acne medicine is off limits I thought.

NO you def need to stop! Besides messing with your estrogen levels, it can cause problem in the development of the sexual organs. You probably haven't done anything to it yet because you don't share a blood supply till 7 weeks, but I would stop NOW and only start again if you get the go ahead from both your OB and your dermatologist. 
 
Frankly I'm surprised they let you take it while TTC; it's safe at that point but they're usually so cautious they won't even prescribe it without BC. My dermie asked me about what BC I was on at every single appointment to be sure 🙄

Not  safe at all. You are supposed to be on birth control while using this med.
Stop taking it immediately and let your ob/gyn know you were taking it until this point in your pregnancy

Being that it's a category C med, I would definitely call and ask your OB!

It is not safe!!! I was on it for years and when we decided to try and conceive my doctor had me stop taking it immediately. Definitely stop.

I was told I couldn't even use acne wash face, so I'm pretty sure meds for it would be a no. Ask your doctor before you take anything!
