How have your AF cramps changed since having a child?

I never used to have painful cramps prior to having kids. After DS1, they were noticeable and now, after DS2, they might as well be labor contractions! I dread them each cycle but they leave after 2 days of AF or so.
Has anyone else noticed a change in cramping after birth(s)? I'm not sure why it would get worse with each child.
