csection question?!

Question

Do you stay in the hospital longer than 2 nights when you have a csection? Im sure you bleed vaginally, but for how long? Do you get a catheter or does anything happen "down there" (as far as medically) or is it strictly the incesion?

In the hospital I am going to you stay for 5-6 days post csection. You have a catheter for the first day & night and it will be taken out on day 2. Your epidural comes down and your encouraged to get up out of bed & walk around. 👍🏻

It depends on your doctor. Sometimes you go home quickly sometimes you stay for a week. You do bleed still but it's not as heavy because they clean everything out during the surgery. Yes you will have a catheter, and they actually do mess with your vagina. They have to make sure everything is in its proper place. So they will be digging around down there too. But you don't see any of that and you can't feel it because of the meds.

In New Zealand you usually have to stay 5 nights. I had elective so had a catheter inserted while being prepped for surgery in the early am and it came out later that day. After a cesarean section you are expected to bleed for just as long, if not a little longer, as a vaginal birth. I think I wore massive granny panties for 7 or 8 weeks. Not looking forward to wearing those again!

I have mine scheduled for Friday. Haven't been through one yet but I had all the same questions. They said I'd leave by Sunday-Monday. I'd have a catheter in for the first 24 hours. I'd bleed afterwards for about 6 weeks. The first few days will be the heaviest and lighten up after that.

I had my c-section Friday and I was able to go home Sunday I stayed for a total of three days and I had a catheter inserted and remove a day and a half after my surgery.

In the US I believe the standard is 3 days. I went in Friday and left Monday. They kept the epidural in for two days. Removed the catheter on the second day and I had to get another because after 6 hours I still wasn't able to pee on my own. Getting the second catheter HURT. I think my vagina was swollen so whatever she was doing it felt like I was being poked down there with needles. Also on day two you need to get up and walk around. It helps you pass gas which is a requirement before you can have solid food and helps your recovery process.
