Braxton Hicks or Contractions?

I've been having strong Braxton hicks all throughout the night, ones that cause me to wake up. But they are not painful at all, they're just uncomfortable. Are these really contractions or just Braxton hicks?

Well Braxton hicks aren't usually painful but I've heard contractions are. I mean usually I think if they aren't painful they at least make you feel like you've got cramps. Only 29 weeks so haven't going through it personally yet but that seems to be a lot of what I read on here. Are they consistent? Because I know braxton hicks aren't and they usually tend to go away if you switch positions.

I never really got Braxton hicks, but my contractions were definitely painful! Maybe it's the start of labor?
