So Sony and Disney are supposedly in a race to make a live action Mulan movie, however...I've heard some disturbing rumors. Apparently Sony wants to make the Mulan movie...not about Mulan. Instead they want to cut out General Shang as her love interest, and give her a white European explorer/sailor as a love interest, and he will actually be the one to save China. Not sure how accurate that is but I have read about it on multiple sites and articles and it honestly almost made me stroke out. I love Mulan, it was one of my favorite Disney movies and if they botch it or white wash it anyway I will most definitely not watch it, not even when it's online for free. We already have the deliberate erasure of an Asian woman in Ghost in the Shell when they white washed the main role and gave it to Scarlett Johansson. I'm really praying that if they make a live action they don't fuck it up severely 😩
