What is it with these freaking MILs?!?!

My MIL is adamant about throwing me a baby shower when I'm 38 weeks pregnant. She and my mom were originally planning a shower together but my MIL backed out. My mom is now throwing me a shower when I am 30 weeks pregnant, and the only reason my MIL wants to throw a separate shower is because she wants me to be "the most pregnant possible" and she thinks 30 weeks is too early. I am 100% uncomfortable with this idea and I think it's extremely rude to back out of co-planning a shower with my mom just because she thinks I "won't be pregnant enough." 
I mentioned to her that I don't want to have the shower that late because I don't want to be miserable at the shower and she literally said "we want you to be miserable. I need to show all my friends how big you are at the peak of your pregnancy." 
I'm not a damn museum exhibit. Jeez.

It's nice that she wants to plan me a shower, but who is this shower really for? 
I'm just so pissed off about how she is treating my mom in all of this and how she refused to consider opinions other than her own.

Thats why i dont care about baby shower, or even announce the pregnancy,not my type. I dont need anyone buy my baby anything, we can handle it ourselves. Don't have to hear shits from anyone loll...

Seems like she is living vicariously through you and doesn't care how you feel. Have to stand up and tell her you aren't comfortable. Otherwise you'll be forced to sit there and suffer through it. Unless you go into labor early (and at a safe time) ;) then she doesn't have a choice. 😂 so mean, I'm sorry.

Put your foot down and say no. Set boundaries. Or just don't show up if she still does it. You will be miserable and tired at 38 weeks. I wouldn't do one past 35 weeks. My friend is 37 weeks now and so over it.

My MIL insist on doing the baby shower.  I normally get along with her but not when I'm pregnant. She wats to decorate and do everything. That's fine but she's also been pushing lately on the name. She wants to tell me the names I pick are ugly and force Italian family names on me.

My mil is also planning a separate shower. She chose a location that was expensive and my mom thought it was impractical to have our entire family and all of my friends there. Mil wouldn't budge so my mom is throwing her own for my family and my friends. Mil is going to just have her side of the family and her friends. I was annoyed at first but the way I look at it it's nice that she wants to do this for you. It sucks you'll be further along but having two showers means you will probably get more for your baby 👍🏼😊

I would tell her if this shower is for me I want to have it at 30 weeks. If she still insists let her plan then don't show up. You warned her and she clearly doesn't care about your feelings.

I am so sorry she is like that! I can relate, except it isn't my mom-in-law it's my mother! She was mad that my mom-in-law is throwing a Jack & Jill and asked my mother if she wanted to help plan. My mother responded by asking my mom-in-law if there were any other ideas besides a Jack & Jill. Mom-in-law said no, that the shower will definitely be a Jack & Jill and now my mother is pissed. She doesn't think a baby shower should include men because she has never been to one that was! My husband and I had a Jack & Jill bridal shower and it was a blast. We tried so long to get pregnant that we want to share all of the amazing and fun moments together.

If my MIL did this I would tell her to go ahead and plan it if she wanted, but to not expect me to show up. If she wants to have a shower for her friends, fine. If she wants to have a shower for me, reschedule.
