When your baby wakes in middle of the night

Question

I have the hardest time waiting for my daughter to fall back asleep.  I want to go to her immediately, feed her knowing she will go right back to sleep.  But when I wait it takes her a good hour to go back to sleep.  And I myself have a hard time keeping my eyes open even when I sit up, watch tv or play on my phone.

Is she crying or fussing when she wakes, or just babbling? I usually just try to wait until he sounds distressed because by that point there's no way he'll go back to sleep on his own. If he's just talking to himself I wait to see if he'll fall back to sleep.

My little one wakes up now and stands at the end of her crib yelling. So I go get her. Usually change her and settle her down before I put her back in the crib. I tried CIO method but since she's figured out how to stand and all that fun stuff there's no hope she will fall asleep on her own without a lot of crying. Not worth it to me.

Currently when I put him to bed he will talk to himself for about 2 min and then goes straight to sleep and then usually wakes up at night at about 3 am by crying but I just pop his dummy in and he goes straight to sleep until his feed at 6 am.
