Was going to the ERa bad choice?

So my insurance is still going through transfer to my new state, currently I am only covered for emergency visits like the ER instead of regular appointments like obgyn visuts. Been having terrible cramps since finding out I'm pregnant and it's getting worse so I went to the hospital ER. The doctor says that pregnancy pain is natural but if it's getting worse they might want to see if possible ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage. My question is, should I have just sucked it up until my insurance went through or was it a good idea to be seen in theER? Currently waiting for my ultrasound

It was a good idea. If it's ectopic - God forbid - it's better to catch it now than when it bursts a tube. That's way more dangerous. If you're partially covered and have no other way to get answers, this was your best bet

If you were in large amounts of pain and concerned there is no reason you shouldn't have gone.

You should have waited. Unless you are bleeding through a pad an hour or experiencing crippling pain there's no need for the er. 
Other women may not agree but there's nothing they can do for pregnancy cramps. 
You can drink the right amount of water. Take a warm bath. Take a Tylenol. Rest your body. Eat healthy. Take your prenatal.
