Ferber method? CIO

Question

My LO is almost 3 months and I am ready to start sleep training him in his bassinet. I am wanting to try the Ferber or Cry it Out Method. Has this worked for any other moms? Or not? Any advise? It's so hard for me to listen to him cry but I know it will be healthier for the entire family in the long run.

My pediatrician said 3 months is too early to start sleep training. And way too early for any cry it out method. They can't self sooth yet. We've been told 6 months is when it's best to start sleep training.

I've been reading the Ferber book and it's really not a cry it out approach. They may cry, but you go and check on them at certain intervals. My sister in law had success with this approach when my nephew was 7-8 months. We might try it down the road when we transition ours to her crib. Another good book to read is "Healthy sleep habits, happy child". It gives you strategies for helping develop good sleep habits and self soothing.

I've heard that no sleep training before 4 months and no CIO until 6 months. I know all babies and families are different, but that is what I have heard and plan on following.

Try baby wise. It isn't exactly like Ferber, but it works. My 10 (nearly 11) week old is sleeping 9 hours a night (9 to 6) with very minimal wakes. This week we're working on 10 hours.

We started at six weeks with a bedtime routine. Bath, massage, lights down low, feed with nursery rhymes playing and then in his basket when he looks drowsy. Stay with him til he's asleep rubbing his tummy if hes waking up. Now at nine weeks he's asleep within 5/10 min of his feed with no tears or stress :-)
