First dentist appointment?

What age does a child need to be taken to their first dentist appointment?

I work at a dentists office. We typically don't see children until they are 3-4 years old unless there is an issues. Even then it's best to start with a pedo office. They are usually better equipped to see children than a general dentist is.

My dentist said around 3-4 years of age.  He however recommended bringing my son in when I get a cleaning.  That way when he's older, seeing all the dental equipment and all isn't scary because he's been around it before. He said it works with his patients.

My baby's first dentist appointment was at 6Months and now she has an appointment at 12months ! She's 8Months on the 30th and she dosent have any teeth yet

My son went to his first appt at age 4 he's never had any cavities or any problems, he's now almost 6 and goes every 6 months

I was at the dentist yesterday and asked and she said unless there is something abnormal going on you have questions about, typically they don't see kids for cleanings or checkups until around 3 years old.

I never take mine before 18 months and even then they can't do much depending on the child...
