induced moms. advice?

For the moms that have been through getting induced what advice do you have for other moms facing a induction? Being induced on Monday and just looking for a little advice :) doctor didn't explain anything! Also I've seen a lot of moms talking about being induced maybe this post will help others too!

I was induced with my first baby. What I will day is every person is different, here is my story. I was 42 weeks exactly not dilated at all. They brought me in the night before to give cervadil as per my midwife you have to be at least two cm dilated to start potocin. I was able to get some sleep although I was anxious. The next morning the midwife came in and broke my water and started the potocin and....nothing. The potocin was at an 8, my nurse told me usually girls are screaming in pain by this point but not me. Fast forward to the next morning, potocin is now at a 20 I'm feeling contractions but still only 4 cm dilated. The contractions are getting stronger so I move to get the epidural, contractions continue but no increase in dilation. By 1130pm the potocin was at a 28 & baby Aiden was non-reactive on the monitor. Luckily, I had been getting NSTs throughout my third trimester and was able to identify this in speaking with the nurse. My SO demanded to speak with the doctor, as I mentioned I was using midwives during my entire pregnancy, the doctor came in and determined in minutes that we needed a c-section asap. I was quickly moved to the OR and Aiden was born at 1 am. He weighed 10lbs 6oz!!! No wonder I was not progressing he would not fit!!! Needless to say Aiden is the LOVE of my life. Also, suffice to say that I switched to docs for this pregnancy and went with the scheduled c-section as she was expected to be big as well. I delivered her Monday at 1004 am at 39+3 and she weighed 8 lbs 15 oz!!!

In the end ladies, we will do whatever we have to do get our babies it as safely as possible. I wish you all the best of luck and I definitely feel your frustration as I went two and a half weeks over with my Aiden it was well worth the wait though!!!

I was induced at 38 weeks with Obstetric cholestasis. Started on the Tuesday afternoon. 2 days of pessaries and gel... waters broken Thursday evening, didn't need the drip as contractions started immediately... she was born via venteuse at 9:13am weighing 9lbs.

I'm being induced (vbac) tomorrow morning. Since my first was born via c-section, my dr told me I would be on the monitors at all times, with a monitor also on my cervix to keep a eye on how strong or weak my contractions are so they can give the right amount of pitocin since, the monitors on your belly only tell them when your having a contraction and the baby's heart rate. Also that I would be getting an epidural just in case there's any complications and need a emergency c-section, I'll be ready.

I started cervidil the night before and was supposed to start pitocin 12hrs later but my water broke and I went into active labor. Since my contractions were strong and steady, they didn't give me pitocin. I labored and had my epidural. Pushed for 1 1/2 hrs and she was here.

I got induced 2 weeks ago.I would try and get rest the night before. I only got 3hrs of sleep. I was in labor for 11hrs which resulted in having an emergency c section because baby heart rate kept dropping. I was so exhausted but of course it's all worth it when you see your baby 😊 good luck

I was induced, i went to a dr appointment and was sent to L&D to get induced due to high bp. Go in with an open mind, they will do anything they can to bring the baby out as naturally as possible as long as you and baby are healthy. I was in the hospital for about 36 hours before my baby got here. Make sure to eat and rest as much as possible. You cannot eat or drink anything other than water once you are on pitocin. They gave me dinner and then started me on pitocin throughout the night, they also inserted a ballon like mechanism to help dilate me more. In the morning they checked and I was only 1cm and 50% effaced. They took me off pitocin (they thought I'd be there another full day before I went into active labor) so I could eat and told me to go out and walk so I won't hate my bed and get sore. Walked for about two hours and the ballon came out on its own. I was then 3 cm and put back on pitocin. I wasn't feeling my contractions and they decided breaking my water would help. As soon as my water broke, I began to feel my contractions! I went from 3 cm to full 10 cm in about 30 minutes. It was the longest wait of my life but it was definitely worth it! I was suppose to be induced but my water broke two hours before my induction. They still put me on pitocin though. Before they put me on my doctor actually let me order room service first because my blood sugar tended to run low wven during prenatal appts. So after I ate I got started on pitocin, and I got pain meds through my IV and was able to get my epidural put in- but the first time they put the epidural in they didn't do it right. So I had contractions with pitocin for 2 hours before I finally asked for another epidural. The second time it worked and I literally felt NOTHING the rest of the time and slept until my doctor got there and had to tell me when to push because I didn't even feel pressure. I would recommend getting an epidural because the contractions are a little closer and stronger than normal ones. You got this though!(:

Rest up. And take snacks and things to do. I was induced with my first and was in for 34 hours and only 3 of them were active labour lol. I was bored and spent a lot of money at the shop in the hospital lol. 
Listen to the midwife, keep active if possible and bounce on a ball. Good luck. Xxx
