Take the job?

Today I was offered a job as a museum receptionist as the position I applied to recently was eliminated due to budget cuts. The job I applied to would have been mine had it not been cut but they still want to employ me. The only thing is that receptionist is a much lower paying and lower starting position and it's only part time. I'm hoping if I were to accept it that it could lead to something better since I am a recent college graduate and want to get on a career path which for me personally won't be a receptionist. Should I take the job and hope that I'll be able to move up the ladder so to speak? Or should I keep applying elsewhere? Ideally I would like to work in an event coordinating like field and I would love to do so in a museum. TIA! :)
