How can I clean my carpets?

I have moved into a rented house and the carpets up the stairs are horrible

I've got an upright carpet washer that can do big bits of carpet but the stairs are minging!

They feel greasy and look really grubby. The carpet is nice but could do with a deep hand clean.

What's the best way to do it?

If you have a clothes iron, let it get really hot, saturate the stains with vinegar, and place a towel over the stain. Hold the iron down over the towel for atleast 40 to 60 seconds and the rag should absorb most of the sugars and grease.

Get a bottle of awesome at the dollar store, spray it on the stairs and scrub with a brush, then vacuum up with wet dry vac with hose attachments.
