VBAC moms, any advice you can give?

Alex

History: I had an emergency c section 6 years ago. I was given pitocin without explanation when I came in and was already in labor with wonderful, productive contractions and dilating on my own. I honestly think the hospital just wanted me out faster. After the pitocin which made my contractions CRAZY, I agreed to an epidural that didn't work. When I started pushing, my daughter went into fetal distress. Cue c section 16 hours into labor. The epi and spinal block didn't work and I went into shock because I could feel the surgeon cut into and put his arm in me. They knocked me out with gas and I woke up hours later, baby was fine.

Now: I'm nearly 34 weeks and terrified that something will happen to where I will be given another c section. I will be seen at a hospital during birth and have an obgyn. They seem supportive of my decision to VBAC but I have my doubts. Every once in a while they'll say happily "Oh well you know if it doesn't work out we'll just do another c section" like it's for fun and ease instead of in case of emergency. My plan is to receive no interventions and go pain relief free... The entire pregnancy has gone wonderfully with no hiccups or bad test results. Any tips or advice that might help me go have a successful vbac? Thank you so much for your time.
