3rd shift job & relationship??

my boyfriend just got a 3rd shift job and i can't help but feel upset about it. i feel as if he won't have anytime for our daughter or me. my mom had worked 3rd shift all my life and i rarely saw her i feel like it's going to be the same with my boyfriend. what should i do about my feelings about the situation?

I work 3rd shift and never really had any issues with relationships (because of that anyway lol) id sleep during the day while they were at work then id wake up and spend the evening with them until id have to go to work. If you want to spend time with someone youll make the time to do it. A lot of the nurses i work with probably get a couple hours of sleep in between shifts because of their families but they make it work -and obviously dont work everyday so they get a chance to get some normal sleep. If you want the relationship you guys will find a way to make it work

Tell him. And youre right. He wont have the energy. My bf used to work 3rd shift and it was horrible. He barely saw us. If he was home he was sleeping, if he wasnt sleeping he was so exhausted it was like he wasnt there anyway. It fuckin sucked.

Some people handle 3 rd shift very well. If he needs this job, then this is what u need to do for the time being . It doesn't have to be forever and other shifts eventually open up

I worked overnights for a few years while raising/homeschooling my 3 kids, starting my relationship with my now husband, getting married, a pregnancy, and then back at it with 4 kids. 
Part of this time my now husband was overnight as well. I'm not going to pretend it was easy. But we made it work. I think currently we have less family time with him working days and my working part time early mornings. 
Just talk to him calmly and set up a schedule that works for your family. It may require that you are both more conscious about getting time as a family.

It is hard I worked on 2nd 3pm-1:30 am and it sucked it was really hard on my relationship.

My husband used to and it wasn't that bad. I was at work while he was sleeping (I had our son with me.) Shortly after I got him he would wake up and hangout all evening, help put our son to bed, then I would go to bed when he left for work.

Is it to help with finances? Hopefully it isn't a necessity for him to do that since it would take away from your time together and make him exhausted. I can't imagine having my husband do that, I would be so sad having him gone so much! I would tell him how you feel :)

You gotta just talk to him and tell him how you feel. He probably just thinks he needs the job to bring in more money to help look after both of you. He might not realise you would rather have more time to spend with hom rather than money.
