breast vs formula stools

So, I attempted breast feeding but my little man was tongue tied and couldn't latch properly at all. It was extremely painful and he couldn't get the nutrition he needed. So I attempted to pump and bottle feed, but overall it was way to stressful for both DH and I. We were miserable for multiple reasons. After lots of tears and anguish, I finally made the decision to formula feed.. please no judgement. Breastfeeding was not right for my family. However, bigger question now. We switched yesterday, and he had good bowel movements yesterday. But they're really slowing down. He doesn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort, and he has plenty of wet diapers, just not very many stools. Is that normal for a formula fed baby? He's 5 days old. How many should he be having? Any help or advice is appreciated!
