CLASSY AF: Know how to shut down creepers (appropriately)
Chances are that you've had to deal with some kind of creeper or unwanted attention at some point before. So what's the best way to handle it? It depends on the situation.
When it happens in your personal life — regardless of how you choose to handle it, there's no need to be mean (yes, it might seem a little unfair but this is more about your safety than anything else). Simply telling them that you're already in a relationship is pretty effective most of the time (keep in mind that this doesn't have to be true at all).
At work is a different story. First of all, no one has the right to make you feel uncomfortable at work. That said, don't rush straight to HR (unless something really shady went down). Try to remain cordial but icy enough to send the message that the person's advances are unwelcome. It's okay to be curt and not engage in any conversation. If none of this works, then you can go to HR.
