fenugreek and colic??

Question

Someone told me today that fenugreek causes colic in babies... 
I picked some up to help with my milk production as I've been nursing My daughter but she never seems satisfied. (Growth spurt I know) during her last growth spurt I had to drink TONS of mothers milk tea to keep my supply up and those days were rough! Anywho I heard the supplements were supposed to help but I don't want to take them if they're going to cause colic.

I have heard of fenugreek causing an upset belly in Baby. But it doesn't do that for all babies. There's nothing wrong with trying it out. See if it helps your supply and see if Babe tolerates it well. If it doesn't help or if she seems distressed, stop taking it.
Other ways to increase your supply include: feeding more frequently and allowing Baby to completely empty your breasts. Or you can hand express/pump after Baby feeds to get all the milk out. The emptiness will signal to your body to produce more milk. Don't allow yourself to be engorged for long, as the fullness signals to your body to produce less milk. Also, drink plenty of water (at least 80 oz per day), get lots of protein (66-70 g per day) and consider adding soy to your diet as soy is known to increase milk supply because of it's effect on estrogen.

They don't necessarily cause colic but they can cause gas in some infants. It just depends on the baby and unfortunately you really won't know until you use it. The bright side is most people can take fenugreek for a few days and boost their supply enough as long as they continue breastfeeding on demand as well as pumping.
