When to go in/call?

Question

My hospital goes with the 5-1-1 rule. Don't call or come in until contractions are 5 minutes apart one minute in length for an hour. Mine have been 6 minutes apart for an hour lasting one minute. I always thought I would be screaming in pain before going in or calling, but my pain is maybe a 4. Should I wait until the pain is really bad?

Also, is there anything I can do to make sure labor doesn't stall?

I was told l&d to not go in until 3-1-1 with contractions that were so painful they took my breath away, water breaks, or if I didnt feel the baby move at least 10 times in an hour.  I went in three times in early labor and didn't get admitted until my blood pressure got very high.

Every one is different. My first and only pregnancy so far I went in at 5 minutes apart lasting only 30osh seconds and wasn't even an hour later before I decided to go in because our hospital was further away. The lady was like we probably will send you home because you are talking through contractions and what do you know... I was at a 4 so they kept me.

I would go in, but that is because my hospital is a 45 minute drive. If yours is within 20 I would probably wait.

Walk a lot, and I was sent home even with the 5-1-1 because they weren't making me dilated. So all the pain for nothing 😑
