how much money should I put away a week ? 🤰🏼

I'm expecting in October im nearly 13 weeks. How much money should my husband and I be putting away a week to save money to buy baby things ?

Depends on what your budget is, what you want to buy, if you plan on getting things from baby showers, etc. If you buy name brand everything it is going to be more expensive and I would probably put away about 100 a week. If you are okay with buying not name brand, maybe even second hand, it can be very cost effective. Without all the new baby stuff included, you probably only need 300-500 for a good savings to buy diapers, formula, etc after the baby is born.

As much as you can spare; sometimes there's things you can't plan for.

However, I would reccommend buying the most expensive items when you see them on sale; don't wait! there was a 60% sale on an online store where I am, and I ended up buying the crib almost 4 months early. Really glad I did though, as I saved a bunch. Same with the futon I'm going to be using for nursing; yay for Holi sales! :D

I would say that buying a few items each month, especially during sales, would be better than saving the money straight up, and buying everything nearer the time, without the guarantee of some kind of sale. Definitely buy the bigger items with a discount if you can; then, if you see something you really like that was a little out of reach before, you can buy it :)

It really depends on if you're going to go back to work after or not. And if you're having a shower. I've spent maybe $40-$50 on baby stuff and I have everything I need except I need to stock up on a few more diapers. I'm going back to work 5 weeks after I give birth and my husband works. We have 6 grand set aside for a rainy day fund but personally I only contributed $1,700 to it lol
