Is it normal for the father to come to the first prenatal appointment?

Invited the father to come as we're not entirely sure how far along I am and I'll likely be having an ultrasound. Is it normal for the father to come to the first appt?

my husband went to every ob appt with me for 1st &2nd pregnancy. but now im pregnant with 3rd child I preferred all three of them stay home together instead of going to appt with me lol

My husband went to the first 2 in the first trimester because we had 2 mc before this baby, and we got so much reassurance from the ultrasounds. I'm 26 weeks now and he went to my anatomy scan but not any of my other appointments because they're really quick check ups now. He might come to the ones in the final month, but maybe not.

Most of the appointments last 10-15 minutes...I've only asked, or required 😉, mine to go to the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. We work different shifts, so sometimes he is at work when I go. But to be honest, I don't feel bad that he's only been to one. It's the one I needed him at. The rest are just - pee in a cup, blood pressure, weight, and belly measurement. In and out. I guess it's your preference and what works for you and yours. Oh, and we have been together for over 4 years.

The first time around my husband only really went to the first appointment (and sonogram). We found out we were having a girl from a genetic test (which he went with me to), so he didn't really go to many of them with me, mostly due to our work schedules and my doctor's location. I often made the appointment around the lunch hours because my doctor didn't have late afternoon/evening appointments. If he tried to be there that would have been a 2.5+ hour round trip from work for him. Neither of us had a problem with it at the time.

This time around (we live in a different state now) the doctor is less then 10 minutes from his job, so he will be able to go to more of the appointments.. but probably won't unless it is a sonogram or for a special reason.

My first pregnancy my husband was there at the first appt and most of the appointments after that. He may have come to the first one of my second pregnancy, not sure. But 3rd pregnancy and this current one, he doesn't come to anything! I would rather him stay home with the toddlers than have them all in my appointments- it's my alone time 😬
