When a doctor orders blood work for HCG levels can I ask him to also check progesterone or does this test check for both? 
Is there something he can do if my progesterone levels are low?

I'd def ask. I have a mc and this time we checked it and was low. Was started on oral pills until 12 weeks and now I'm 24 weeks! Low progesterone makes for a weak lining of the uterus.

It's not standard to check for it no. You can use suppositories or injections if it's low. But 9 out of 10 times low progesterone is a symptom on a non viable pregnancy not an issue producing progesterone

My doctor ordered both. It is routine. If it is low, they can prescribe progesterone pills or suppositories. What ever your doctor believes is best for your individual situation.

It depends on your doctor... It's not always standard, so I would specifically ask esp since you had a miscarriage as that is definitely a reason for many miscarriages.
