Yes, you have every right as an employer to choose how you'd like your business to be represented. If your employees don't like it, they don't have to work there.

My boss requires us to have minimal makeup, and our hair in a bun on top of our heads. I prefer having my hair out, but whilst I am working, I am representing the Subway brand.

Sure! Employers have the right and employees have the right to choose to not work there.  Everyone has rights.  If you want a full arm of sleeves I think that is beyond gorgeous.  There are also many people out there who are exceptions to the rule.  If someone has sleeves but has a phd and is the best candidate, hell yes that person is getting he job.  The issue is formentry level positions with people who don't have much of a resume this is something holding them back.  Sad but true

I wish I could have my tattoos showing. I work at Disney and I have to wear a white long sleeve shirt and pants all year long. It gets so hot. I think companies should follow sea worlds policy, if it's not offensive then the tattoos can be shown.

I mean, piercings would definitely have to be removed for hygiene or hazard reasons for certain jobs. But removing piercings is easily done and shouldn't disadvantage someone when applying for jobs.

I think companies should stop looking at people with tattoos and piercings as unprofessional. It has no credible representation of how that person behaves or works. If someone has tattoos or piercings and does their job amazingly, they should be able to have or show those things as long as they aren't offensive or unsafe to their job.

Some jobs yes. I can't think what the proper name is for it but for example when people have their arms and wrists pierced. Can you imagine having that piercing in the hospital. It would get so infected or else the studs could get lost whilst caring for someone and who knows where it would end up 😷. They couldn't follow the 'bare below the elbows' policy and not to mention some patients who get aggressive could rip it out. I get that piercings don't effect how well you do your job but I do think in SOME instances it's not the best thing to have.

I think we need to give some slack on those who have tattoos and piercings. It's not any indicator that they are unprofessional or aren't qualified for a job.

There are definitely jobs where piercings can be a hazard, but for office jobs and more "safer" jobs, I see no reason to have to remove any jewelry. If you have a tattoo with something inappropriate or offensive, then that is a good reason to cover it up. Otherwise, I believe that people should be able to show off the beautiful art on their skin.

Piercings can be a safety issue. Tattoos are becoming more common place and more wisely accepted. I've seen a lot of professionals with visible tattoos.

If an employee is being paid for work and representing your brand, your going to want clear, fair guidelines for their appearance. But you're probably not going to hire someone covered in visible tattoos to begin with if your hairline say 'no visible tattoos', so it's a moot point.

When you seek employment your expected to dress in a way that your employer pays you to dress (e.g. If you work in an office you must wear office wear not active wear, if you work as a flat guy stewardess you must wear the uniform provided, if you work in Disney world you must wear a princess costume). How you do you hair, make up, jewlry and tats  is extension of this, it's call presentation. The way that you present yourself is completely within your control and it is in no way similar to banning blank people, short people, people of a certain sex etc.
