Breastfeeding mamas.. Do you drink?

My baby only receives breast milk. I really enjoy a glass of wine (or 2) at the end of my day.. But wondering if its safe for baby... Do you breastfeeding mamas drink? If so how much and how often?  Is a glass or 2 Daily SAFE for baby if i wait atleast 2 hours after drinking to feed him?

Like everyone has said, if you feel sober enough to drive, you are sober enough to nurse. I was also told that the best time to have a drink is literally while you are nursing your baby (sounds crazy and certainly seems wrong) but it makes sense since the alcohol would not be absorbed into your bloodstream. If you still feel uncomfortable I would have some pumped milk in the fridge just in case.

My opinion is yes it's safe. I BF and drink a Guinness every now and then to help with my milk supply. If you can drive, you can nurse. That's what I base it off of. I don't have more than one beer in a night while I'm BF.

Buy milk alcohol test strips. I use them and now I know I can have 2 beers back to back and my milk is safe. 3 beers is usually to much and the alcohol shows up in my milk.

I had my first glass of wine in over a year the other night, it was wonderful. I nursed a couple of hours later, everyone I know said it was perfectly safe. Plus red wine is supposed to be good for you.

If you are drunk then ur milk is drunk if. So  if you are drunk then sober up, you milk will "sober up" too.

I've only had one drink since I've had my son (he's 5 months) I just made sure I had a good size bottle pumped for him in case he was hungry before I was comfortable feeding. If you're sober enough to drive you're sober enough to feed.

I do not drink normally as I am a social drinker. All of my close friends are currently pregnant. I probably would have an alcoholic beverage every once in awhile.

I drink caffeine and feel guilty about that lol.. so no, I don't drink alcohol while breastfeeding

Depends on how fast your body metabolizes the alcohol. But my doctor said 2-3 hours is ok many moms stay on the safe side and give baby a bottle at the 2 hour mark then go another 2 hours.
Other do the "pump and dump" method however the alcohol stays in your system until it has metabolized.

Its safe. as long as long as you can take Care of baby and not past out
