facts, & risks of my placenta being in the front?

i am 21 weeks today!!! when i went to my dr appointment last week for my ultrasound they informed me that my baby boy was being shy & hiding behind my placenta, and that's also why i'm not showing, but they also reassured me that as my sweet baby grows he could move in front of my placenta. i was hoping to get as much information from other moms who had experienced the same thing & how it effected you, your pregnancy (& if your baby ever moved in front of the placenta), your labor, and your baby. ❤

- i don't know how true that this is, but i HEARD from a friend that it could possibly put you at higher risk for a c section, was this true for you, or did you deliver vaginally.

My placenta is in the front for this baby and was also in the front for my first child. I felt movements a bit later because it kind of acts like a pillow, but otherwise nothing.

Do you mean you have an anterior placenta??? That just tells you where the placenta attached in your uterus...anterior means front. It doesn't mean anything else and doesn't affect labor or delivery. Your baby isn't going to move in front of if though. As your uterus stretches it may move up a bit, but the baby can't move in front of it.

It shouldn't be an issue for delivery as long as you don't have your placenta down low, blocking the cervix.

Your baby may be more likely to end up facing front at delivery, which can lead to back labor and a more challenging delivery. Check out Spinningbabies.com for ideas on exercises you can do to encourage your baby to face your spine.

They do often rotate to face your spine during labor itself, as long as you are moving freely during labor and aren't down in a bed. Having an epidural also tends to keep babies fron turning the right way during labor.

I had the anterior of front placenta and only reason I had a c section was baby's big head couldn't fit through the canal, hours of pushing in multiply styles and he wasn't moving down at all, placenta placement wasn't an issue

When my friend was pregnant her wee lad was behind her placenta he's now 4 years old and healthy as can be nothing to worry about x

Mine had moved up and back at 28 weeks! There's still plenty of time for it to move so try not to worry x
