Was cloth diapering harder, easier, or just as you expected it to be?

I'm thinking of using cloth diapers with my twins. I'm only 9 weeks now. I'm trying to figure out brands and figure out how much work it really is. Also, if you don't mind commenting and letting me know your favorite brand of cloth diapers and if it actually did save money.

It was definitely easier than I expected. Honestly I gave it a try because it seemed appealing and what was best for the baby's skin, but I thought I'd quit with it real fast. She's 4 months now and we still love them. Bum genius is my favorite brand! I'd recommend them for sure.

We like green mountain prefolds and flats with thirsties covers. Never had much luck with pocket diapers and all in ones are too expensive and take too long to wash/dry.

First of all you have to decide what kind of cloth diapers you want to use. There are many styles with varying degrees of difficulty of use. A traditional cloth diaper with a cover you have to fold to prep and use pins. An all in one is basically the same as a regular disposable but with snaps/Velcro.

Brands will depend on the type you decide would be best for you. You can find great comparison posts on Pinterest or Google. I use and love the all in two/hybrid type. I use a combination of Best Bottom and Buttons Diapers because the covers and inserts are interchangeable. BB has cuter covers, but are also a little more expensive.

Washing all depends on how many diapers you get. I have 36 inserts and 20 covers, this allows me to wait and wash every third day (usually-babies are unpredictable). To me it's really not that much work. I also recommend getting a diaper sprayer for your toilet (I use a bidet attachment from home depot, it was cheaper than an advertised sprayer and does the same thing) to spray out poop.

I figure it takes me the same amount of time to change a diaper and maybe an extra hour to do washing related things (per load) like rinsing out poop , starting the loads, switching to dryer and getting them out to put away and ready to use again. (Outside of the actual time it takes for your washer and dryer to work.)

I loved it at first, it's pretty easy buttt... I stopped after like 2 weeks. I just could NOT keep up with the washing as my daughter pees wayyyyy to much.
