Anybody have really low iron?!

I found out that my iron is super low, and just want to know how others deal with it, before during, and/or after birth.

I had extremely low iron levels with my first, I had to take iron supplements (which constipate you, so you'll need stool softeners also), my OB told me to eat iron rich foods like leafy greens, red meats and beans. I improved, but not enough. During labor and delivery, everything was fine, but afterwards I had lost so much blood I passed out and had to have a blood transfusion. My iron level was so low afterbirth, I had to stay longer than normal at the hospital to make sure my levels went back up. Hopefully yours isn't as low, because it can be scary, but they know how to handle situations like that.

Of course your obgyn is telling you to Take iron pills ..take hem every single day to make sure your fully up with iron through out your pregnancy ..if you start forgetting your going to feel miserable  ..I'm anemic too the pills help me a lot

Vitamin B12 drops. Not pills, liquid. I got it from Amazon but it's changed my life.

I am anemic too. I take Iron pills along with prenatal vitamins. Try to eat foods rich in iron like Apple and green vegetables

I had low lron before I got pregnant 🤰🏾 I don't like iron pills make my stomach hurt so bad. I stop take them.

I added red meat to my diet at least twice a week and started drinking smoothies that I loaded with spinach and black strap mollasses.

I have to take two iron supplement tablets a day. They say to try and take them with OJ as it helps absorb it. Also, don't take it with your prenatal or anything with calcium as it can hinder your body absorbing it.

I was always tired and falling asleep and have seen a big change in my energy levels since starting the supplements

Yup, blood work showed that I am anemic. I was falling asleep at work from my low levels. Doctor said to take a iron supplement every other day. I just get them from Meijer, and they've done the job.
