Sweet potatoe vs yam for baby?

I'm making homemade baby food. I went to get organic sweet potatoes but all they had were organic yams. Can I give this? I've read articles saying they're different.

In the US, we have sweet potatoes and then use the name interchangeably. And they're a great first food in my opinion...so far my daughter's favorite!

So I've been reading into this, and it turns out that I actually had a sweet potato. A True Yam is hard to find in any grocery store. What we call Yams (orange colored) are actually sweet potatoes 😊

The name is sometimes used interchangeably but yams are the orange ones and I see no problem with giving them to my 6.5 month old. She's loves yams.
