Shining torch on pregnant belly?

I recently read that at week 27 babies eyes will open and that they can see shadows and light through the skin. Is it harmful to the baby to shine a torch through my belly to see if the baby reacts to light? Xx

I think people forget that shining a light through skin is only maybe 20% as bright as the light itself. It wouldn't be harmful to the baby at all.

I just used my phones flashlight to try it out and baby is reacting to it! So cute.

I did hear from a doctor that it is actually able to harm the baby's eyes and make the eye sight of a child not as good as it should be. Ask your doctor to explain it to you, but it isn't a good idea from what my doctor has told me

Why not just try the flashlight on your phone?

My baby had his spine towards my stomach so he couldn't see the light

I wouldn't risk it. Not sure why you'd want to shine a torch light on a child that is developing.
