so irritated with people's opinions
Okay so I don't normally let things get to me but this for some reason makes me get all kinds of pissed off! So I want to let out some steam 😅 I'm doing BLW with my son, "Baby Led Weaning" I'm doing it because we sit down as a family to eat meals. Why would I want to give my son just puréed food when he watches me like a hawk, including his sister & daddy eat our dinners?? Well everyone that sees me give my son solid foods they flip out! "He doesn't have teeth" (which is irrelevant for eating food, do you eat with only your bottom two teeth??) "he's to young" (you have to wait till 6mo & sitting independently for BLW) "OMG HES GOING TO CHOKE" (no, no he's not. Choking is VERY rare in BLW as long as you're doing it right, GAGGING happens often but that is a part of the learning experience) gagging & choking are completely different, which my son hasn't even gagged 1 single time and we've been full on BLW for a week straight. Babies gag reflexes are way more sensitive than adults, which protects them from actually choking. And let me just say there is nothing wrong with TW (traditional Weaning) it's just a different method. TW teaches them how to swallow, BLW teaches them to chew foods and learn how to self feed. Nobody knows what's best for my baby besides me. He loves to eat with us & I love it too! He doesn't actually consume much but he's learning so fast! His very first BLW meal was Chicken, toast, mashed potatoes, & asparagus. BLW isn't just about feeding your babies solid foods, it's about eating together with the family, eating exactly what you eat. Formula & breast milk are babies #1 source of nutrients & nourishment for the first year of life, and solid foods should never take its place. You should always offer breast milk or formula first, Food is basically just for fun until 1 year of age anyway!
Part rant & part info incase anyone is interested. Just wish people would keep their own opinions about how I feed MY own baby to themselves!!
