could you still be with someone with different views on sex than you?

My bf of a year has had more casual sex relationships and one night stands than sex with people he was in serious relationships with and sees nothing wrong with it. I still haven't had sex and see it more as something you do with someone you have a strong connection with. Could you be with someone with different views? He is ok with mine but for some reason I can't shake his but I think it's because he lied in the first place and told me sex for him was serious and he'd never had one night stands.

Yes. Really what they did before you is irrelevant. I was the same way. My current man was a complete thot who had never had a serious relationship ever. I made him take an STD test before we had sex though, same as you should before you have any sexual encounter. he's perfectly amazing to me. Really it takes the right person to make them want to change. So if hes willing to commit for you, means he really likes and values you. 🙂

This is why I thinks it important to discuss whether or not you've had sex and nothing else. Once people start discussing sexual history or numbers things usually get weird. It shouldn't really matter. That was then. This is now. What's important is how he feels about sex and sexuality with you in your relationship and nothing else.

It's okay if you can't, I feel like it's perfectly fine to want to be in a relationship with someone who has similar values as you do.
I honestly was in this exact situation, but didn't find out until pretty deep into the relationship. To me the dishonesty was far worse than his past, so it took a while to move past but we did. So it's possible, but if it's a compromise you're unwilling to make, it's okay to have certain standards you want met by your significant other.

If you arent sexually active and her has been.. It can be very hard to shake the one night stands and previous things your SO has done.  If it really bothers you, try talking to him. I was in the same boat. It sucks... Especially if you are trying to save yourself for marriage. No one can tell you if you can or can't do the relationship... I think it just depends on how much of a priority it is for you. I think ppl can certainly have different views on sex if said views are not what they consider to be defining characteristics of their value system.  If you are saving yourself for marriage, heavily define yourself by that belief, and especially if you come by that belief due to deep ties to a religious community or dogma, then I think it would be reasonable to say his views and past are not something with which you are going to be able to come to terms. Even though I am totally not that way about this issue, it makes perfect sense to me that someone might be. realistically, you're going to have to find someone who 1) prioritizes their views on sex as highly as you do, and 2) shares the same view (e.g. It obviously won't work with someone who  heavily defines themselves by their sexual views but those views are completely libertine. Obviously). Don't feel badly that you can't make it work with every nice person who you connect with -- there's so much more to it than that!

I've never had a boyfriend but I've slept around tons. Never in a relationship with any of them. My current boyfriend (very first boyfriend) loves my daughter and understands my past. He's 20 and only slept with 2 people that he was super serious with. I adore him with all my heart and we're both okay with who we used to be. 💘
