From what i have gathered nothing bad can happen to baby. But it is likely to get a false positive and then you'll have to have additional testing.

You need to answer this one for yourself.

If it comes back positive how will you feel? Will you terminate the pregnancy? Will you be completely stressed and unable to enjoy your pregnancy? Would knowing if there is/isn't an issue give you piece of mind? Would you regret getting the testing if it was positive? Would you regret not getting the testing if you didn't find out until birth?

No harm for your baby but you could get false positive. I myself decided to get it done because my insurance covered it, result came back great, my baby is perfect and healthy and I already had anatomy scan done as well. It was also came out perfect. My doctor offered me the genetic testing due to my age. I am 34yo.

I did it! Had to pay out of pocket $145 but totally worth it, I didn't really care about the Down syndrome because I would have had the baby regardless but I found out at 10 weeks what we were having :) got to buy stuff a lot sooner and call baby by name :)
